【Project Introduction】

Filecoin is a decentralized storage network that transforms cloud storage into an algorithm market .

Miners - obtain FIL by providing data storage and retrieval

Clients- allow miners to provide storage, distribution and retrieval data services by paying FIL

[Project progress: Testnet phase2 ]

[Filecoin Weekly] Issue 57: The first draft of economic model parameters will be released soon

test version:

  • lotus v0.4.0&Butterfly

Test objectives:

  • Network security
  • Calibration network test (launched on July 20, U.S.)
  • Test reward program (launched on August 3, USA)
  • Economic model parameters

project progress:

  • Test reward plan & mainnet extension for 2 weeks, testnet rewards increase by 100,000 FIL
  • Butterfly version launched
  • Enter the calibration period tomorrow
  • Gantt chart update

[Hot Spots of Last Week]

[Filecoin Weekly] Issue 57: The first draft of economic model parameters will be released soon

  • On July 15th, someone raised the issue of economic model parameters in Slack's #space-race. @Why responded: They hope to propose the first version as soon as possible, and then adjust it according to the test reward plan and apply it on the mainnet.

[Filecoin Weekly] Issue 57: The first draft of economic model parameters will be released soon

  • On July 17, the official mentioned the issue of geographic location in the test reward program in #space-race: geographic location cannot be faked, otherwise all miner rewards will be lost.

[Progress of testnet last week]

1) The big miner test confirmed that it will be delayed to one week from August 3, and the mainnet will be postponed

2) Test network operation status:

  • After the network reset, the system has been running for more than 29 days, the number of active miners has remained above 4,000, and the block generation of the system is relatively stable
    • The block height exceeded 101,500 last week, and the effective computing power of the entire network reached 23.325 PiB, an increase of nearly 3.4 PiB in a single week, and an average daily increase of about 0.5 PiB, which was the same as the previous week. Some big miners’ computing power growth has stagnated, but other miners’ testing continues
    • The block reward last week was around 18.14FIL from 18.18FIL the previous week
    • The block generation rate has dropped significantly. The average block interval is about 30s, and the number of empty block rounds has increased significantly; the average number of blocks in each round remained at about 2.18, which was significantly lower than the previous week. The reason is that the top miners stop producing blocks
    • The average number of messages last week was around 23.75, a sharp increase compared to the previous week, which is related to the decrease in block production
    • The size of the message last week exceeded 836 bytes, which was basically the same as the previous week, and was mainly used to prove the message

3) Main issues:

  • Power display is slightly wrong-to be fixed
  • The phenomenon of empty blocks appears in the Butterfly network

[Development progress last week]

  • Code additions and bug fixes:
    • Some bug fixes: one of the important recent work, including improving error handling, improving prompts, command line error correction, better log structured output, etc.
    • Enhanced documentation: such as FAQ
    • Deal: Increase the judgment of Deal processing and reject Deal requests
    • Actor Miner refactoring
    • Improve ChainWatch synchronization and pipeline processing
    • Update search market code
    • Multi-signature account code update-this has been done for a long time
    • Update the Scheduler to prevent excessive memory consumption
    • spec-actors refactoring and problem fixing
  • Design and certification update:
    • Increase Prometheus monitoring data
    • Enhanced documentation and help
    • Improve the problem of excessive use of partial tree for cached proof generation
