[Filecoin Weekly] 58: The calibration network is launched, and the reward test enters the countdown

【Project Introduction】

Filecoin is a decentralized storage network that transforms cloud storage into an algorithm market .

Miners - obtain FIL by providing data storage and retrieval

Clients- allow miners to provide storage, distribution and retrieval data services by paying FIL

[Project progress: Testnet phase2 ]

[Filecoin Weekly] 58: The calibration network is launched, and the reward test enters the countdown

Test version :

  • Calibration stage

Test objectives :

  • Network security
  • Calibration network test (already started)
  • Test reward plan (launched in the week of August 3, USA)
  • Economic model parameters (part of the initial parameters have been written into the network)

Project progress :

  • Testnet goes offline and enters the calibration period

[Hot Spots of Last Week]

  • The biggest thing last week deserves to be entering the calibration period (Calibration network launch), because this is the "mock test" closest to testing the rewards program network, I believe many miners are actively studying their configuration in the network~

[Progress of testnet last week]

1) The Calibration network had problems with mortgage, wdpost, etc. last week, and then reset and started again

2) Test network operation status:

(14:10 data)

  • The reset was carried out at noon on July 24th, Beijing time, and the operation was basically stable for two days until last weekend.
    • Last week, the block height exceeded 7000, the effective computing power of the entire network exceeded 1.0 PiB, and the original value was close to 389 PiB.
    • Last week, the block reward for each Winner was close to 5.5 FIL. The economic model is currently undergoing adjustments, so the block rewards you see will be very different from before
    • The block generation rate is relatively stable, the average block interval is 25s, and there are few empty block rounds; the average number of blocks in each round remains around 3.0
    • The average number of messages is about 27.4, and many miners are on their way
    • The size of the message is about 439 bytes, which is relatively small, indicating that a large number of messages do not take up much space. It may be mainly for transfer and creation of miners, and the proof is part of it.

3) Main issues:

  • The amount of mortgage is too large
  • Gas setting is not high enough
  • Message packing is slow

[Development progress last week]

  • Code additions and bug fixes:
    • The mortgage mechanism in the economic model was initially realized and entered the Calibration network
    • DRand network upgrade
    • The WindowedPoSt mechanism is further improved and more refined processing
    • Improve the calculation of gas consumption
    • Improve network links and PeerMgr
    • The distribution of block rewards starts to calculate the Wincount quantity
    • Increase the flexibility of network links
    • Increase the chain rate of blocks
  • Design and certification update:
    • Prove that there is no major update, mainly work on documentation and some minor bug fixes, provide ARM support, etc.
    • Implementation of NSE is still in progress
    • The design part mainly focuses on document optimization
    • The design of the economic model has not been completed, so stay tuned
