Comparison of Kali 19 and 20, 2019, 2020

I’m doing Kali recently, but I didn’t update my blog.

Twenty years later, many Linux versions have launched their own new versions, such as Ubuntu 20.04 LTS version (LTS stands for long-term support and maintenance). Just as when Win10 first came out, my friend named Yu told me, "Just come out Something is definitely not stable", so this Linux system is not very stable, install it (the basic problem is not big, go to the previous article to find it), and then some software runs a little incompatible, for example, I use Zimui on Ubuntu while surfing the Internet While writing the code in class, Sogou’s input method actually got stuck, and I tried many times and found that Sogou would get stuck once every 1000-1500 words input (I guess it might be because of stack overflow), and then simply changed it. We are waiting for the Linux version of Sogou input method to update again.

Like the 2019 version, the 2020 version of Kali also has some problems (although I think 2019 is not very good in software compatibility), so it is more troublesome to install some software, including at the beginning, my source also has a little problem. Let’s talk about the two-day experience.

The first is installation. I bought a second-hand MacBook Air some time ago, and I equipped it with a new solid state and started using it (I regret that I did a day and night to let this scrap iron that cannot be turned on. I am happy to charge an extra 300 yuan). I originally planned to install MacOS+Win (and I did use it for a few days). At the beginning, the Mac did not install the system to find a professional who installed Mac+Win and planned to sell it. Another laptop of my own (Win+Ubuntu game book). Then one magical afternoon I broke the Ubuntu and Mac Win systems on the game book, and in a rage, I installed Kali.

Originally, my first contact with Kali was on a virtual machine. I learned about DDos attacks when I was studying network security. When I searched for software, I found the beautiful Kali, and then I used it on the virtual machine. It is version 19, let’s talk about the changes in the two versions.

The desktop environment is different. 2019 uses the Gnome desktop. The feel is about the same as Ubuntu. After modifying the menu bar to "translucent", "not extending to the sides", "centered", and "below", it looks It is very similar to the MacOS system (personal opinion, although the icon is different, I will not give you a screenshot here, I will put the link to the Baidu network disk later, if you want to try 2019 in the virtual machine, you can download it); The 20 version of Kali uses xfce, and the experience is completely different. If I have been familiar with Kali’s Gnome desktop environment for nearly eight years, an update made me unable to do the basic operation of "settings". Let me show you a few pictures.

It can be seen that the original menu bar on the left is cancelled, only the upper menu bar is retained, and the buttons of wifi, Settings, shutdown, etc. that will appear when you click the shutdown button in the upper right corner in the original 19 version are all integrated at the top In the operation bar of, the little change is that you click the Kali logo in the upper left corner, or the application bar will be called.

I think this change is both good and bad. I fell in love with Kali at first sight because of her beautiful interface and many tools. One update loves half of it. In addition, In the most basic operations such as settings, I have encountered many problems. Of course, there are also input method problems that I feel have been a headache or even have not figured out the solution. Here I give the majority of new Kali users who like Sogou input method. My suggestion is: try to install once, don’t try if you succeed. This sentence is really new. After all, as a super invincible Sogou enthusiast, I have only successfully installed Sogou input method once on Kali. At that time, it was Kali on the virtual machine. Even though I used it for two days, Sogou somehow disappeared. And it never appeared again, and I was too lazy to do it. After switching to a physical machine this time, I almost gave up Kali because of the input method. The result was just (before writing this blog, I got it, although I don’t know what I use now) What kind of input method is it, but it is definitely not Sogou input method, otherwise I may be using Ubuntu just installed on this machine to complain about Kali).

Let me talk about why I like Kali:

1. I really think Kali in 2019 is the most beautiful Linux (because I didn't know Deepin and some other extremely beautiful systems at the time, please don't force it, because I was so shallow and even thought that there were only two systems in the world, Ubuntu and Kali), So I chose Kali decisively.

2. There are many integrated tools. Kali is the Linux system with the most integrated tools in all systems I know, although I have to admit that I really have limited knowledge.

3. My stubborn temper, there may not be too many people who will deliberately go to my previous blog, but it does not prevent me from telling you here, two days ago, in order to install the dual system of UBuntu, I fiddled with 10 I installed it forty or fifty times in a few days, so I found a new name in a Linux exchange group called Tossing Party. After a successful installation, there were some problems. I did it again several times, and then it went smoothly. That's too much, but in a system that I can't even use "settings", I feel that this is very insulting, so I decided to use Kali.

Some problems with Kali (take my current machine as an example, part of it may be caused by my model):

First of all, the problem of capitalization, whether it is version 19 or version 20, when you type fast enough and your "uppercase" key is turned on at this time, you switch to lowercase and press the next letter quickly, then At this time, you will find that although lowercase letters should be output at this time, the letter you output is still uppercase. For example, my "cd Downloads" often fails to find the path because it is typed as "cd DOwnloads", and there are many others like this. This problem exists in both virtual and physical machines.

Input method problem: Don’t stick to one input method, it’s too time-consuming, we can change one if one doesn’t work, right. From the beginning, I always felt that since it is a branch of Debian, the Sogou Linux version that can be used for ubuntu must be used for Kali, so I was taught to be a human.

Dual-system booting problem (grub-install error): a cliché, you can try it yourself, check Baidu (of course Google is also good), my previous blog also mentioned my experience in solving it, if you think you have tried all of you You can try the possibility, private message my price contact information to solve it.

There are also some points that I feel good. If you install deepin-wine's QQ, Tim or Wechat, etc. on Ubuntu, you need to install some plug-ins to use it. Kali is different, although I still don’t know if I installed deepin-wine. There is a problem with the method, but the same method was successful on Ubuntu, so. . . It's weird, maybe it's not available at all? ? ? Leave a suspense and I will solve it in a few days.

In fact, I don't have much contact with Linux. I say that Ubuntu is suitable for Linux beginners or programming enthusiasts. However, I love Kali, so I installed a lot of programming software here.

Regarding the source, Kali's source is not the same as Ubuntu, so don't change the source, and prescribe the right medicine.

At the beginning, when I changed the source, I encountered a problem like the Mobius ring. (First of all, let me explain that my source was empty at first. I don’t know if I deleted it by mistake or something, it’s weird) I don’t have leafpad, and I need to change the source to install leafpad. However, my source is empty. I need to install leafpad to change the source. Of course, I can use vi or vim. However, I won’t enter the command bar after clicking esc, so I can't replace it, and I forgot how it was solved in the end, so stay here and make a story.

That's it. By the way, I don't often go to CSDN, private chat or comment, if I reply slowly, don't be angry.
