1. Introduction
If there are a large number of installation systems, manual installation using u disk or CD-ROM is inefficient and can be installed in batches through the network. It can also be installed unattended.
WDS stands for Windows Deployment Service, and is mainly used for batch deployment of computer operating systems in large and medium-sized networks. Through the use of WDS, you can manage system images and unattended installation scripts, and provide manual and unattended installation methods, greatly improving the speed of our operating system installation.
2. Requirements
2.1 It is best to use a professional-grade server to distribute <stability>, the client needs a network card to support the PXE function <generally supports>; the server and the client must be in the same local area network; if deploying computers that have been checked, priority Use Gigabit / 10 Gigabit network.
2.2 DHCP: Used to assign IP addresses to clients that need to install an operating system. You can deploy a new set or use the existing DHCP service
2.3 AD service: Active Directory service, primary user user authentication (WDS service has two deployment methods: 1, integrated with AD mode; 2, independent mode. Two methods do not need to install AD service, I use the independent mode deployment)
2.4 The server must have administrator rights, and prepare the system image you want to install, "preferably the pure version of MSDN / VL version"
PXE (preboot execute environment) is a technology developed by Intel Corporation. It works in Client / Serfer network mode and supports workstations to download images from remote servers through the network, and thus supports operating system startup through the network. During the startup process, the terminal requires the server to assign an IP address, and downloads a startup software package to the local memory using TFTP (trivial file transfer protocol) or MTFTP (muliticast trivial file transfer prootocol) protocol. This startup software package completes the terminal ( (Client) Basic software settings to guide the terminal operating system pre-installed in the server. PXE can boot multiple operating systems: Windows 7, 8, 2008 , Linux, etc.
