1. Installation requirements
GNU/LinuxAs a general principle, we recommend that you install LibreOffice (such as Ubuntu's Software Center) in the way recommended by your particular Linux distribution, because in general this is the easiest way to make the installed software optimally integrate with your system. And, it is very likely that LibreOffice will be installed for you by default when you install the Linux operating system.
The installation package provided by the community is only for users with specific needs.
The software and hardware requirements installed on the Linux operating system are as follows:
- Linux kernel version 2.6.18 or higher;
- glibc2 version 2.5 or higher;
- gtk version 2.10.4 or higher;
- Pentium compatible PC (recommended Pentium III, Athlon or newer CPU architecture);
- 256MB memory (recommended to use more than 512MB memory);
- Minimum 1.55 GB free disk space;
- X display server with 1024x768 resolution (higher resolution recommended), at least 256 colors;
- Gnome 2.16 or higher, and have installed gail 1.8.6 and at-spi 1.7 software packages (accessibility technology requires these two packages), or other compatible graphical interfaces (such as KDE or other)
Some features (but not all) require a Java runtime environment. Base database components and megafunctions must have a Java environment to run.
2. Preparation
2.1 Download and unzip the installation package
- For installation packages under Linux, please go to the download page. There are two ways to package: ".deb" for Debian / Ubuntu, and ".rpm" for Fedora / SUSE / Mandriva. Please select the type suitable for your operating system.
- The installation package is divided into "main installer", "translated language pack", and "offline help". To use the Chinese interface, you must download the Chinese language pack.
- For example, you download and unzip the installation package to the "download" directory in your user's home directory.

3.1 Fedora / SUSE / Mandriva system (.rpm package):

4. Run Libre Office
# ln -n -s /opt/libreoffice$version/ /usr/lib/libreoffice
# libreoffice$version
