Azure cloud migration in the Migrate assessed using Hyper-V Azure VM

And use Azure Migrate tool to migrate VMware virtual machines to Azure as the cloud, Hyper-V virtual machine you must first assess the preparatory work before the formal migration.

1. Prerequisites

There are some prerequisites must first be prepared prior to the assessment:

  • Set permissions for Azure Azure Migrate.
  • Ready to assess the Hyper-V cluster, host and VM.
  • Deployment apparatus for preparing Azure Migrate Hyper-V VM discovery and evaluation.

2. Add Azure Migrate tool

You can see this part before Bowen  create the Azure cloud migration and managed Azure Migrate project to create a project and add tools.

3. Deployment apparatus provided Hyper-V VM

Azure Migrate server evaluates running a Hyper-V VM lightweight device.

  • This device performs discovery VM, VM and transmits performance data and metadata to "Azure Migrate: two types of evaluation.
  • To set up the device, do the following:
    • Download the compressed Hyper-V VHD from Azure portal.
    • Create the device and check if it can connect to Azure Migrate Server Evaluation.
    • Complete configuration of the device for the first time, and register it to the Azure Migrate project.

1) Download the VHD

Download the compression device VHD template. In the "Migration Destination"> "server"> "Azure Migrate: Server Evaluation", click the "discovery." In the "Discover Computers"> "that the computer is virtualized?", Click "Yes, the use of Hyper-V". Click "Download" to download the VHD file.

1) In the "Hyper-V Manager"> "virtual machine", right-click the VM and select "Connect."

2) provision of equipment language, time zone, and password.

3) can be connected to any computer that VM open the browser, then open the URL of the Web application equipment: HTTPS: // device name or IP address : 44368.

Alternatively, you can open the application, click the application shortcut on the desktop device.

4)> do the following "Set Required Components" in the Web application:

  • License : accept the license terms, and read the third-party information.
  • Connection : application will check whether the VM can access the Internet. If you use a proxy VM:
    • Click the "Proxy Settings", and begin with http: designated proxy address and listening port // ProxyFQDN format: // ProxyIPAddress or http.
    • If the proxy requires authentication, specify the credentials.
    • Only supports HTTP proxy.
  • Time Synchronization : The verification time. Time on the device should be synchronized with an Internet time, so as to find a normal VM.
  • Install the update : Azure Migrate server will evaluate whether to install the latest updates on inspection equipment.

6. SMB VHD delegate credentials

If you run the VHD on SMB, you must enable credential delegation from the device to the Hyper-V host. This requires the following conditions:

  • It allows each host to act as a proxy device.
  • Enable CredSSP delegation to Azure Migrate device can act as a client to delegate credentials to the host.

Enabled on the device as follows:

method 1

Run this command on the device VM.

Enable-WSManCredSSP -Role Client -DelegateComputer HyperVHost1.contoso.com HyperVHost2.contoso.com –Force

Note: HyperVHost1 / HyperVHost2 is an example of a host name.

Method 2

Do the following Group Policy Editor locally on the device:

1) In the "Local Computer Policy"> "Computer Configuration", click "Administrative Templates"> "System"> "credential delegation."

2) Double-click "Allow commissioned new credentials" and select "Enable."

3) Click the "Show" in the "Options", to add to discover each Hyper-V host to the list, and use the wsman / as a prefix.

4) In the "credentials Assignment", double-click "Allow only assign new credentials for NTLM server authentication." Will be found in each Hyper-V host is added to the list again, and use the wsman / as a prefix.

7. Start sustained found

From the device connected to the host or cluster Hyper-V, and start the VM found.

1) In the "User Name" and "Password", specify the equipment used to discover the VM account credentials. Specify credentials of easy to remember name, and then click "save the details."

image

2) Click "Add Host", and then specify the Hyper-V host / cluster for more information.

3) Click the "Verify" . After authentication, the host will display each / VM on the number of clusters can be found.

  • If the host authentication fails, hover over the icon column "Status" to see the error. Solve problems and verify again.
  • To delete a host or cluster, select "Delete."
  • You can not delete a specific host in the cluster. You can only delete the entire cluster.
  • Even if a particular host in the cluster of problems, you can also add the cluster.
