SeaMonkey 2.53.1 release, Mozilla browser suite

SeaMonkey project is a community that is committed on the basis of isolated from the past "Mozilla browser suite" in the code on the development of browsers available kit.

Currently, SeaMonkey 2.53.1 release has been completed. This version is disabled automatically upgrade from the previous version, users need to download from the Download section the complete installer and manually install over a previous version of SeaMonkey 2.53.1. In addition, this version also made changes to the configuration file, after users update will not be restored to a previous version of SeaMonkey. Therefore, before you upgrade to SeaMonkey 2.53.1, you must make a complete backup of the configuration file.

2.53.1 updated version reads as follows: 

  • Bookmark manager has to change its name to "Library", and now also includes "History" list.
  • Download Manager has been migrated to the new API. Although it looks almost the same as before, but the lack of search options, and a few other minor details are different ways of working. Previous download history will be deleted during the upgrade process.
  • Added "Layout" panel to CSS Grid tool.
  • TLS 1.3 is now the default version.
  • SeaMonkey 2.53.1 uses the same backend Firefox, and includes related  Firefox 60.3 security fixes .
  • SeaMonkey 2.53.1 most mail and news shared code Thunderbird. Read  Thunderbird 60.0 release notes to learn about specific changes and security fixes in this release.
  • The latest Firefox 72 other important security fixes and enhancements has been transplanted.
  • In general platform and Mail fixes, this version includes Thunderbird Backport EFAIL fix security vulnerabilities.
  • SeaMonkey now gtk3 on Linux.
