Computer's startup divided into two types: local and remote boot start.

Remote start means the start of the relevant files on the network, this approach is suitable for diskless computer network use, we usually do not use.

Local start is commonly used to start the way we started the relevant files in the machine's memory, it can be divided into the machine (hard disk) to start and peripherals (U disk) to start two types.

The computer starts the process

Computer's startup process is divided into two processes: BIOS and OS boot start.


BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is a start relatively simple process, mainly to complete the inspection and loading computer hardware. After the BIOS startup is complete, it will be referred to OS boot to complete the boot process.

After the OS (operating system) boot is complete, users can use the resources of the computer.

Start the computer in various ways


Legacy and UEFI BIOS startup divided in two ways. Legacy is a traditional BIOS boot, is relatively simple, can be understood as ancient DOS mode; UEFI is to improve the way that can be understood as an updated Windows way.

The current general computer support Legacy and UEFI mode, but there are also some older computers only support Legacy mode, there are some new computers only support UEFI mode.

一台电脑可以安装多种操作系统,比如Windows以及Linux系统,这时就需要借助启动引导器来选择合适的操作系统来启动了。

因此启动引导器是电脑启动中的关键工具,会影响电脑启动的效果。

电脑启动的推荐方案

启动引导器也有很多种,经过反复验证,最后我总结了如下的电脑启动推荐方案:


表中的Grub4DOS、Grub2以及BootMgr都是比较好的启动引导器,WIM、ISO分别是启动文件的格式,HD代表本机硬盘,VHD代表本机的虚拟硬盘。

考虑到U盘是便携的启动设备,需要应付各种情况,应该能同时支持Legacy以及UEFI两种启动方式。
