Why PD planning stage
PD is a portfolio planning, applications in the enterprise is equivalent to the product line planning.
White said the problem was how to spend the money the most value, in essence, is a resource allocation problem, how to find the best portfolio in the context of limited resources premise.
In Taiwan this solution is not suitable for enterprise in the end, still need to research and judgment.
In order to avoid the emergence of racking our brains, Discovery PD as the first half, the main purpose is to ensure that adequate divergence and research, to fully understand the industry trends, competitors, research firm status quo and strategic top-down decomposition, Define for the next stage convergence, provide sufficient information and evidence to support.

In response to the increasingly rapid changes in the market environment, we are using the PD lean value tree (Lean Value Tree) tools to help make strategic vision of decomposition.
Lean Value tree is a value-oriented results, analyze and communicate business vision, strategy and tools for investment. Its core is built from the top down alignment of vision, goals to investment initiatives, so using a tree structure of a layer by layer decomposition.
- Vision (purpose, core values of the organization)
- Goals (strategic goals towards the vision of the stage, to achieve the desired future state)

Bottom-up: Status Survey and Analysis
By high-level interviews, stakeholder maps, organizational structure analysis, strategic design thinking, the status quo business structure in order, the user journey, service blueprint, domain-driven design, the status of the application system in order, state of the art architecture comb, etc. commonly used tools and practices, adequate and multi-dimensional status of research and analysis.
