Homebrew 2.2.0 release, the package manager on MacOS

Homebrew 2.2.0 was released. Homebrew is a suite of management on the MacOS, Homebrew kits will be installed into a separate directory and file soft links to /usr/local all the files will be installed into the predefined directory, without having to worry about the installation location of Homebrew. Homebrew Ruby programs are simple script, use  gem to install Gems, used  brew to get those dependencies, making macOS easier to use.

Since version 2.1.0, the most significant change is macOS Catalina support, performance improvements and better integrated in the Linux ecosystem. The following are the main updates:

  • Support macOS Catalina (10.15). It does not support macOS Sierra (10.12) and earlier.
  • No significantly faster operation of the HOMEBREW_AUTO_UPDATE_SECS, default is 5 minutes (instead of 1 minute).
  • If the formula is the latest, the brew upgrade no longer has an error with failure.
  • After installing the brew upgrade-related checks faster and more reliable.
  • Homebrew Linux on the proposed minimum requirements .
  • https://formulae.brew.sh  display Linux formulas. When Linux on, brew info Linux output data analysis.
  • Homebrew now use OpenSSL 1.1. OpenSSL 1.0 has been deleted, since the end of 2019 has been EOL.
  • Homebrew Python 2.7 will be deleted at the end of 2019, because it will EOL.
  • brew tap-pin is disabled.
