TextMate 2.0 officially released, the veteran free open source code editor

TextMate is a 16-year-old has a code editor in macOS platform, multi-language support, version control, global search and other basic functions and taste everything. It is worth mentioning that, TextMate has won the Award for Best Developer Tools Apple Design Award in 2006.

Last week, TextMate 2.0 officially released , the main developer  Chris Messina  with a "finally" to lament its six-year development cycle. Although the development cycle is so long, but TextMate 2.0 does not provide new functionality bright spots, some more conventional optimization and maintenance.

Speaking code editor, we might first think of  Visual Studio Code , Atom , Sublime  and so on. Indeed, as the code editor that several previously mentioned have a more modern look, but also a wealth of plug-ins and cross-platform support. Obviously, TextMate such an old application has been unable to compete with similar tools provided by the manufacturers, and perhaps more of a wish to provide to the old user a better experience relatively nothing.

If you are a beginner the code, it is recommended that you use Visual Studio Code and other communities more active, functional iteration faster new tools. Of course, if you still have interest in this old application TextMate, but also a macOS users can also go to the official website  for free download  to try something.
