Capital One was hacked, over 100 million user information was leaked

Capital One on Monday revealed that a hacker gained more than 100 million customers and potential customers' personal information, including name, address, telephone number and date of birth. American Capital is a leading credit card issuer, also operates retail banking business. Capital One said the company confirmed the hacking incident of July 19. The hacker has been arrested by the US Department of Justice. After the announcement, Capital One shares fell 1 percent in after-hours trading.

Capital One said that about 100 million US users and personal information of six million Canadian users affected by this incident. In the United States, 140,000 Social Security numbers and 80000 associated with bank account numbers were stolen.

According to information the disclosure of Capital One, hackers obtain basic personal information, including credit card in 2005-2019, including the applicant, including credit score, payment history and part of the transaction data.
