Instance store instance storage lifecycle

You can specify only instance storage volume instance when the instance is started. You can not instance storage volume with a separate instance of the roll and attached to another instance.

Examples of the data stored in the reservation only associated with the instance of the life cycle. If the instance restart (whether intentional or accidental), data will be retained in the instance storage. However, in any of the following, examples of the data stored will be lost:

  • A disk drive fails bottom

  • Examples Stop

  • Examples of termination

Therefore, do not rely on instance storage to store precious and need long-term preservation of data. Use more permanent data storage, such as Amazon S3, Amazon EBS or Amazon EFS.

When you stop or terminate one example, each of the reset data stored in the storage block instance. Therefore, you can not access your data stored by another instance of the instance.

If you create an AMI from an instance, start from AMI instance, the instance of the data on the storage volume can not be saved and will not appear on the instance storage volumes.
