Message headers
Header comprises tracking information for an e-mail, which describes in detail each of the path a message through a mail server employed. In the following Select your webmail provider or email client to understand instructions on how to find the message header.
Webmail providers
Gmail
1. Sign in to Gmail
2. Open the message to which you want to view the header.
3. Click the top of the pane e-mail reply to the down arrow next to it.
4. Select Show original .
The full headers will appear in a new window.
AOL
1. Log in to your AOL account.
2. Open the message to which you want to view the header.
3. In the "Action" (Operation) menu, select View the Message Source (View message source).
The full headers will appear in a new window.
excite Webmail
1. Log in to your Excite account.
2. Open the message to which you want to view the header.
3. Click the "From:" (Sender :) line on the right side of the View Full Headers (see the full headers) icon.
All your messages full headers will appear in a new window.
Hotmail
1. Log in to your Hotmail account.
2. From the left side of the menu Inbox .
3. Right-click to view the message headers, and then select View message source .
The full headers will appear in a new window.
Yahoo! Mail
1. Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
2. Select the message to which you want to view the header.
3. Click the Operation drop-down menu and select View Full Header .
The full headers will appear in a new window.
E-mail client
Apple Mail
1. Open the Apple Mail.
2. Click on the message to which you want to view the header.
3. Go to the View (view) menu.
4. Select the Message (message), and then select Long Headers (header length).
The full headers will appear in the window below your inbox.
Outlook
1. Open Outlook.
2. Open the message.
3. In the message on the label option group, click the Dialog Box Launcher icon.
4. In the Message Options dialog box, headers appear in the Internet caption box.
For legacy Outlook :
1. Open Outlook.
2. Open the message to which you want to view the header.
3. Click the View menu and select Options ... .
The full headers will appear in a new window.
Outlook Express
1. Open Outlook Express.
2. In the inbox, locate the message to which you want to view the header.
3. Right-click on the message, and select Properties .
4. Open dialog details label.
The full headers will appear in the dialog box.
