Notes about the Linux file permissions

By  ll file name  to view file permissions, as shown below.

Permissions total of 10, the first indicating the file type, d represents a directory, - on behalf of ordinary files. r (read for read permission), w (write on behalf of write permission), x (execute on behalf of the Executive authority)

After nine categories represent read and write permissions file.

Letter notation:

After nine in the top three, who represents the file creation permissions, user shorthand for u

                In three, the file permissions on behalf of the creator's group, group shorthand g

                 Other users where the group after three, representing the creator of the file operation authority, others short o

all = user + group + others

all on behalf of the authority, a shorthand

Numeric representation:

Three each represents a binary number, corresponding rights wxr 7 (i.e., 111, is the highest authority)

 

Modify the file permissions command: chmod   

1. be modified by letter shorthand, be modified by addition and subtraction x (execute the file permissions) on the creator permission.
