Berlin Statistical Yearbook (1999-2020)

Data year: 1999-2020

Data format: pdf, excel

the data shows:

On the 27th local time, the German Federal State Election Commission announced the official statistical results of the re-held state and city-level parliamentary elections in Berlin, Germany, on the 12th of this month. Data show that the Christian Democrats won by a huge margin with 28.2% of the vote, while the Social Democrats and the Green Party both received 18.4% of the vote. The Left Party, the Alternative for Germany and the Liberal Democratic Party received 12.2%, 9.1% and 4.6% of the votes respectively. Among them, the Liberal Democratic Party failed to reach the 5% electoral threshold and missed the parliament.

At present, the Christian Democrats and the Social Democratic Party are each conducting exploratory negotiations to finally decide which party to form a coalition government with. It is worth noting that if the Christian Democrats, which received the most votes, are ultimately unable to form a governing coalition with other parties, then Berlin will continue to be governed jointly by the Social Democrats, the Green Party and the Left Party.

As the capital and political center, elections in Berlin are considered to have a certain influence on federal politics. Previously, Berlin held state- and city-level parliamentary elections on September 26, 2021, but the results were ruled invalid by the Berlin Constitutional Court due to management chaos.
