As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to bring about changes in various fields; comic creation is no exception. Forget about laborious drawings and complex design work. Now, with just a few clicks, anyone can turn their imaginative stories into fully realized, visually captivating comics.
This is all thanks to the innovative artificial intelligence platform that is changing the world of comic creation - ComicAI.
What is ComicAI?
ComicAI is a web application that lets you turn your stories into comics with the help of artificial intelligence. You enter your story (or let AI generate it for you), and the platform sketches out the characters and panels. It's a space where your imagination can come to life, and once your comic is ready, you can easily share it with the world.
how it works
Use your Google Account or sign up through Discord.
On the dashboard, you will see a tooltip to generate a story. You can write it yourself, upload it from a file, or use AI to generate the story for you.
In this example, I will ask the AI to write a story about two people who love each other.
Prompt: The story of a boy named Mike who falls in love with Mika, a girl he meets in a coffee shop

Artificial intelligence will generate a story based on your prompts. You can add as many chapters as you want to make the story more meaningful. Once you are satisfied with the story, click the "Next" button to continue with the character creation steps.

In the character design step, ComicAI understands the story and automatically generates comic images that represent the story’s characters. so cool!
Additionally, you can change the appearance by changing the description and clicking the "Regenerate" button. But be careful, each regeneration transaction costs 3 mana.

You can even save these characters for later use.
The next step is to generate the comic panel. ComicAI automatically suggests scene descriptions and you just have to modify them as needed. You can also change the camera angle or weather conditions.

One thing I noticed is that you currently cannot select multiple characters in one frame. This can cause facial inconsistencies when multiple characters are present in the panel. However, fixes for these issues are already in progress and are expected to be released before early November this year.
The final step is to combine the images together to create the final comic layout.
On the right panel, you can make the following customizations:

- Add frame
- Dialog bubbles
Once you're happy with how the panel looks, you can view the final comic as a single PNG file by clicking the download button.

Create your own character
ComicAI allows you to have your own library of personalized characters.
Go into the character library, in generate mode, give it a name and describe what your character should look like.

Use your own images for training
Another cool feature of ComicAI is the ability to train an AI model with your own images using LoRA character training.
It is recommended to upload at least 10 training images, which are:
- Clear, high-quality images greater than 768 pixels in length
- Have multiple angles or different shooting angles (close-up, high, medium, low),
- Anime characters only
- Consistent characters and clean backgrounds
Any inappropriate images will result in poor training of your character, including blurry and low-quality images and incomplete and small characters.

The training process takes approximately 15-30 minutes. Once completed, you can preview the trained model on the Training tab under the Character Library page.
You can use this pre-trained character in your next comic production.

Overall, I’m impressed with how quickly I can create my own unique, personalized comics using ComicAI.
While AI-generated comics lack the stylistic flair and depth that human artists bring, they have tremendous potential as tools for real comic creators and artists. It allows them to quickly prototype characters, panels and layouts to try out different visual approaches.
