We know how important it is for the product to stay relevant and run smoothly after ongoing software upgrades. Therefore, we have and will continue to focus on compatibility with macOS.
In macOS Sonoma 14, AppKit for window management gets a major change: all user interface window changes are now synchronized with the display (v-sync).
However, this significantly slows down animations in Windows applications in Fusion View mode (for example, resizing the window, repositioning the window, or using the Stage Manager).
Considering that our users love Fusion View mode and running Windows and Mac applications simultaneously, Parallels engineers have redesigned the way to use Windows applications in Fusion mode to ensure a smooth and enjoyable user experience after upgrading to macOS Sonoma 14 .
We have also made many improvements to running macOS Sonoma in virtual machines, which will be discussed separately below.
02. Improvements in planning
As a Mac application, its design inspiration comes mainly from the full details of Apple's design. We invest time and effort into designing solutions that meet current macOS design guidelines.
Rather than simply dropping the old icon into a familiar white tile with rounded corners, we wanted to rethink how our apps communicate in macOS through visual language. New app icons and product details make this possible!
Given that most of our users are using MacBooks, we brought the same "backend" functionality we've long used on iMac all-in-ones to laptops.
The parallelism metaphor for running multiple operating systems simultaneously has shifted from being "in front of the Mac desktop" to running "in the background" because that's where we are—firing up the virtualization engine and running it in the background, allowing the user to run the Third-party operating systems and software.
Finally, the problem of the mysterious hole in the upper left corner has been properly resolved. 03. Use Touch ID to log in to Windows

If yourWindows 10 or 11 is protected by a PIN or password, the next time you log in after upgrading to Parallels Desktop 19 Windows will be prompted to use the new Parallels credentials provided. Your Windows passwords are saved to your Mac keychain, along with a special Touch ID binding record type (which is only used by Touch ID) and can only be retrieved using your fingerprint on this Mac.
The next time you log in to Windows, Parallels Desktop will prompt you to log in to your user account using Touch ID. It's easy and safe. Users can manage their saved passwords through a simple but useful interface and, if they wish, can revert to their old login method.
