How to convert Solidworks high version to low version

Preface

Solidworks is a popular 3D CAD software. Due to the continuous advancement of technology and software updates, 3D model files produced using higher versions of Solidworks software cannot be opened in lower versions of the software. This brings a lot of trouble to engineers and designers, because they may need to share design files with colleagues or clients, and these people may only have an earlier version of Solidworks. In order to solve this problem, it becomes crucial to convert high version files to low version files. This article will briefly introduce how to convert high-version files to low-version files to help readers deal with Solidworks file conversion issues more efficiently.

solution:

First, save the file as a step type file, as shown in Figure 1.

After the higher version of the file is converted to a step type file, the lower version can be opened, but the part's base plane, expansion and contraction, cutting and other features disappear and cannot be edited. When assembling the assembly, the corresponding face cannot even be selected. Such a part is obviously not We need.

At this time, select the corresponding part, right-click, and select Break Link in the pop-up options, as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2 Disconnect link

After disconnecting the link, right-click the selected entity again, click FeatureWorks, and click "Identify Features", as shown in Figure 3.

As shown in Figure 4, click OK to automatically generate relevant features and convert the part to a lower version file type.

At this point, it is converted to a lower version of the SLDPRT file.
