unity Mesh Simplify 1.10 (model optimization tool: check the number of faces, reduce the number of faces)

Tip: There are some mistakes in the article, and I hope you can give me some advice!

Preface

Sometimes I want to optimize the model, but I don’t know how to model. Although I feel that its value is not quite right, it does not affect our optimization of the number of vertices.
Mesh Simplify 1.10 He appears.

1. Detailed explanation of panel parameters

Recurse Into Children (recursive subset): Enable when you need to act on child objects at the same time.
Enable Prefab Usage: Enable when the object you need to act on is a prefab and is instantiated at runtime. This option saves the generated mesh data to disk.
Generally, the four parameters can be kept as default.
Use Edge Length
Use Curvature
Protect Texture
Keep Borders< a i=7> Vertex %: This slider allows you to adjust the number of vertices of the mesh Vertex count: Displays the current and previous vertex count. Preview Original Mesh: Quickly switch to the previous mesh to easily browse the differences. Compute Mesh: Generate the mesh using the current parameters Restore Original Mesh: Restore the original mesh and delete the generation data

2. How to use

1. First mount MeshSimplify to the model

2. Drag the Vertex % slider or modify its percentage value, and click Compute Mesh to generate a new mesh.
Subtract 20% here, and calculate it as 80% of the original value after optimization, as shown below
Insert image description here

3. Click [Compute mesh] to generate the optimized model. There will be obvious differences before and after optimization.

4. If the surface reduction effect is as expected, check Enable Prefab Usage to save the grid file.

5. You can try it multiple times until you get the desired effect. Because reduction will damage the structure of the original model to varying degrees. If the model structure is obviously damaged, you can try to reduce the proportion of the surfaces to be reduced.
