AbstractIntroduced the reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (reconfigurable optical add /drop multiplexer (ROADM) network development history, ROADM technical solutions and the deployment of domestic ROADM networks. A comprehensive explanation of the development direction of key ROADM technologies, including optical cross-connect (OXC) equipment, high-dimensional wavelength selected switch (WSS), wavelength-independent/direction-independent/competition-independent ROADM (colorless/directionless) /contentionless ROADM (CDC-ROADM), 400 Gbit/s FlexGrid ROADM, and next-generation wavelength switched optical network (WSON2.0) intelligent control plane technology. This paper analyzes existing ROADM network application scenarios and technology development trends, and looks forward to the future development prospects of ROADM all-optical switching networks.
