What is DIOU
DIOU is the abbreviation ofDistance Intersection over Union. It is an indicator that measures the degree of overlap between the predicted frame and the real frame. It is often used in depth in object detection or semantic segmentation tasks in the learning domain.
The principle of DIOU
For GIoU, when the predicted box is inside the real box and the area of the predicted box is equal, GIoU cannot distinguish the relative position relationship between the predicted box and the real box.
For this, DIoU introduces center distance, which is specifically defined as follows:
where d is the distance between the center point of the predicted frame and the real frame, and c is the diagonal distance of the minimum circumscribed rectangle.
in conclusion
Minimizing the DIoU loss function can directly shorten the distance between the predicted box and the real box, converge quickly, and solve the GIOU problem.
