Microsoft confirms the introduction of AI assistant Copilot for Windows 10

Confirming previous rumors , Microsoft announced plans to add AI assistant Copilot to Windows 10 version 22H2. Copilot will be included in Windows 10 Home and Pro editions. A release date for the update has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be released in the near future.

In a press release , Microsoft said it has received "great feedback" when making Copilot available to Windows 11 users . Unlike its previous plan to not provide major feature upgrades for Windows 10 22H2, Microsoft has now decided to "make additional investments to ensure everyone gets the most value from their Windows PC, including Copilot in Windows (Preview)."

It's worth noting that not all Windows 10 computers can run Copilot . According to Microsoft's requirements, your device must have a 720p display (or higher resolution) and at least 4GB of RAM . Additionally, Copilot will not be available on some versions of Windows 10, at least temporarily.

Organization-managed Windows 10 Pro devices with version 22H2 will not be included in the initial rollout of Copilot in Windows. Windows 10 Enterprise and Education devices running version 22H2 will also not be included in the initial rollout of Copilot in Windows.

The wording used by Microsoft raises the possibility that Copilot may be added to these versions of Windows 10 at some point. However, the end of support date for Windows 10 remains unchanged. The operating system's end of life will be October 14, 2025.

In addition to bringing Copilot to Windows 10 in the near future, Microsoft will also add a new feature that will allow users to use Copilot as soon as possible, as well as other potentially important new features and improvements. Microsoft will add a "Get the latest updates as soon as they become available" toggle option in the Windows Update section of Settings for Release Preview internal users.

Microsoft added: "This will be rolled out in phases via a controlled feature rollout (CFR) over the coming months."
