Microsoft recently posted a tutorial guide called "How to Download and Install Linux" on the Technical Documentation Center, which introduces four options for installing Linux, including: WSL, bare metal installation, local virtual machine installation, and cloud virtual machine installation .
This tutorial focuses on the necessary steps for users to download and install Linux distributions on PCs, including selecting the appropriate Linux distribution, recommending the preferred installation method, and more.
Microsoft says in the tutorial: "Linux is an operating system similar to Windows, but due to its open source and fully customizable nature, it comes in many different versions. To install Linux, you must choose an installation method and select a Linux distribution."
In its own home court, Microsoft will naturally inevitably want to "Amway" a wave of WSL. The tutorial writes that if you are just starting to use Linux, it is recommended to start with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) because this is the easiest way to get up and running .
The WSL solution can run the GNU/Linux environment directly on Windows, including most command line tools, utilities and applications.
