Records on mysql uninstallation issues and navicat related issues under mac system
Control panel cannot uninstall mysql
Solution: (using imperative style)
sudo rm /usr/local/mysql
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/mysql*
sudo rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM
sudo rm -rf /Library/PreferencePanes/My*
rm -rf ~/Library/PreferencePanes/My*
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/mysql*
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/MySQL*
sudo rm -rf /var/db/receipts/com.mysql.*
In System Preferences - Show All, there is no MySQL icon in the interface that appears, indicating that MySQL has been completely uninstalled.
navicat failed to connect to local mysql (2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (61 "Connection refused"))
Solution:
Connect using a socket file.
Steps: Create a new connection - Advanced - Use a socket file.
2002 - Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql/data/mysql.sock(13 "Insufficient permissions")) may appear when using the package word file.
Solution:
Increase file permissions
sudo chmod -R a+rwx /usr/local/mysql/data
