Problem Description

How to use network cable bridging for home wireless routers to solve the problem of poor wireless signal in some rooms at a low cost, wireless coverage and roaming

The operator's optical modem used as the main router comes with built-in wireless WiFi

The network box is in the master bedroom, and the optical modem is in the network box. There is no problem with wireless coverage in the master bedroom. The living room and second bedroom are fine, but the signal in the second bedroom is poor. If the door of the master bedroom is closed, there is no wireless signal at all in the second bedroom. without

solution

plan description

Use a network cable to connect the optical modem LAN port in the master bedroom to the LAN port of the first wireless router in the second bedroom (the network cable can be connected after the two routers are configured)

The secondary wireless router in the second bedroom needs to be configured as follows:

1. Configure the wireless SSID name and wireless password

2. Configure wireless password encryption algorithm

3. Configure wireless working mode.
The above parameters need to be configured to be consistent with the main router.

4. The 2.4G wireless channels of the two routers must be different and not interfere with each other (it is recommended to use a total of 3 non-overlapping channels 1, 6, and 11 for 2.4G channels in non-high-density deployment scenarios. For high-density deployment scenarios, it is recommended to use 1, 5, 9, 13)

5. Configure the LAN port address of the slave wireless router and change it to an address different from that of the main router. If the slave route does not change, you can change the address of the main router. This is Optical Modem. How do I change the LAN port address of Unicom Optical Modem ?

6. Turn off the DHCP service from the wireless router

1. Prepare the wireless router

1. First go to a certain fish and pick up an 18-yuan Mercury wireless router.

2. Configure equipment

The main route management address defaults to 192.168.1.1

1. Log in to the main router configuration and configure the wireless SSID name, wireless channel, wireless password encryption algorithm, wireless working mode, and wireless password (the specific steps have been configured before and are not recorded here)

Remember the above configuration. The configuration of the wireless router in the second bedroom should be basically the same. The channel and LAN port address should not be the same.

Here, we used tools to detect the best channels 9 and 13 in the current environment in advance. The main wireless router 2.4G channel selected 13.

Configure from router

From the default management address of the wireless router, if it is also 192.168.1.1, this address must be changed.

1. Log in to the router to configure the LAN port address, wireless SSID name, wireless channel, wireless password encryption algorithm, wireless working mode, wireless password, and turn off the DHCP service.

I changed the LAN port address to 192.168.10.1. After changing it, it automatically restarts the router and reconnects.

In the advanced settings, the 2.4G wireless channel is set to 9. Other parameters such as the wireless name and password are the same as the previous main router. After setting, reconnect the wireless

Finally, turn off the DHCP service of the slave router and let the DHCP server of the main router assign IP addresses to the Internet terminals.

Notice!

After turning off the DHCP service from the router, if you need to configure it again, you need to connect to the terminal under the router. In the wireless network settings, configure a manual IP address on the 192.168.10.1 network segment, and then you can use the previous login password. Access the 192.168.10.1 management page configuration (be sure to record this address and password to prevent forgetting it later)

3. Connect the network cable

1. Find the corresponding network cable in the master bedroom network box on the network panel of the second bedroom, and plug this network cable into the LAN port of the optical modem in the master bedroom. This is the LAN4 100M port.

The first panel in the second bedroom is connected to the Mercury wireless router with a network cable, and it is also plugged into one of the LAN ports. Note that it is not a WAN port.

4. Test the wireless network

1. After the correct configuration and network cable connection are completed, connect your mobile phone to the wireless network in the master bedroom, close the room door, go to the second bedroom to get the Internet signal, and check whether the IP address assigned by the main router is normally obtained.

2. Then use your mobile phone to measure the speed under the wireless router in the second bedroom.

3.Roaming test

From the second bedroom to go online under the wireless router to the master bedroom WIFI roaming, the switching success time is 185ms, 0.185 seconds I feel OK, and from the master bedroom to the second bedroom it is 120msInsert image description here

4. All tests are normal. In the future, if a new terminal connects to the network and enters the password once, it will be able to roam on this network.
