1. Upgrade Ubuntu 16.04.04 kernel
The wireless network card of HP Phantom Elf 3 notebook is Realtek RTL8822BE. Ubuntu16.04.04 system kernel is Linux 4.13.38, which cannot drive Realtek RTL8822BE. The system kernel Linux 4.14 has a driver that supports Realtek RTL8822BE, so the system kernel needs to be upgraded. The official website of the Linux system kernel is to click to open the link , find v4.14.35, and find the kernel file corresponding to your own system architecture. Mine is amd64, so download three files, namely × all.deb and two files with generic. Install using the following command:
sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb
2. Add firmware for the wireless network card driver
Firmware address Click to open the link , find rtl8822befw.bin , download and move the firmware to the /lib/firmware/rtlwifi
next. The following command:
sudo mv rtl8822befw.bin /lib/firmware/rtlwifi
Finally rebot.
Note that Secure BOOT mode should be turned off in the BOOT settings.
