Solution to file Disk1000005.vmdk not found

Problem Description:

Many students have problems finding files when using VMware virtual machines. As shown below

This situation usually occurs because the virtual machine memory set in vmware is high. When restoring the snapshot, the snapshot restoration fails due to insufficient memory of the physical machine, and the system prompts that the disk file cannot be found when booting.

Solution process:

Right-click the virtual machine with the problem and click "Open Virtual Machine Directory"

Right-click the RH294.vmx file and open it with Notepad

In this window, click Edit->Search (or directly press ctrl+F to summon the search window)

Enter Disk in the Find what box, keep other options as default, and click Find Next. Replace Disk1-000005.vmdk in this line with Disk1-000002.vmdk

Just like this, then save, close the window, and then return to the vmware interface to start the virtual machine.

As you can see, it started successfully

Precautions:

After searching in Notepad, the name of the vmdk file to be replaced should be based on the file name in your virtual machine folder.

For example, there are several vmdk files in my virtual machine, but there is no 000005, so I need to replace it with another one. I chose 000002. If you don’t know how many to choose, it is recommended to try it from 1.

If this prompt appears during the attempt, it means that the hard disk file may not be the original one. Click Cancel and try another vmdk file.
