The GP232RNL is a highly integrated USB to UART bridge controller that provides a simple solution to convert an RS232 interface to a USB interface using minimal components and PCB space. The GP232RNL includes a USB 2.0 full-speed functional controller, USB transceiver, oscillator, EEPROM and asynchronous serial data bus (UART) with complete modem control signals, integrated in the SSOP28 package and requiring no other external USB components.

    The integrated EEPROM on the chip can be used to customize the USB vendor ID, product ID, product description string, power descriptor, device release number and device serial number required for OEM applications. The EEPROM is programmed on the application board via the USB port, which allows the GP232RNL to be programmed during manufacturing and debugging of the product.
