Generative AI, a key tool to empower the digital workforce

People see generative AI as a tool that lets them ask questions or generate copy and images in their own words. It is also true that artificial intelligence is very good at both aspects, but what is unexpected is that it also contains huge potential to change our personal and professional work. It can help us access and process the information stacked in our mailbox. Heavy development information left in archives.

Adobe recently conducted research on digital workers' perceptions of AI technologies and their value in the workplace. They surveyed 6,049 digital workers in five countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, India and Japan, including rank-and-file employees and senior leaders who use digital technologies in the workplace. The survey results shed light on people's perceptions and expectations of AI changing the way work is done. Here are three key insights from the study:

01 Generative AI empowers the digital workforce

Employees at companies that have adopted AI see AI as a constructive force for business growth. 92% of the respondents said that artificial intelligence has had a positive impact on their work; 26% of the respondents said that artificial intelligence can be called a "miracle"; 61% of the respondents said that artificial intelligence It speeds up their work progress and saves them a lot of time.

Among employees we surveyed, 45% said AI has reduced or eliminated boring tasks, and 41% said AI has changed the way they work. More than one-third of respondents who use artificial intelligence at work said the technology enables them to do things they were unable to do in the past.

02 New generation of artificial intelligence—productivity multiplier

Generative AI puts the power of artificial intelligence into an environment at the disposal of employees, and it has special potential to become a productivity multiplier. 90% of employees believe that generative AI will help them work faster and integrate information from different sources in less time, thereby reducing time spent on difficult, boring and repetitive work. 89% say generative AI will help them get more work done and create higher quality work. Nine out of 10 business leaders surveyed said the same thing.

03 The adoption and use of generative artificial intelligence is the general trend

In this survey, 79% of business leaders expect their employees to regularly use generative AI at work, with 39% expecting employees to use generative AI every day.

76% of global business leaders say their companies are ready to adopt generative AI in their workflows. The remaining 24% of leaders said they are not ready to adopt this new technology, with 35% saying they do not have the right security privacy and trust safeguards in place, and 34% saying they do not Learn how to use or deploy the technology effectively.

Increase human potential and productivity

With the popularization of artificial intelligence, the speech that artificial intelligence will replace human workers has intensified, which has aroused the concerns of many human workers. But in fact, as long as people use it thoughtfully, artificial intelligence will not replace humans. On the contrary, it can greatly change the way we work and improve employee productivity and engagement.

Unlock smart features

Although the transition from analog to digital has made it easier for us to obtain information, the huge amount of information brought by this process is difficult for people to absorb, let alone use them. For businesses, the challenges they face are multiplied by the sheer volume of archived files, but the files themselves have little to no value. A leader at a pharmaceutical company that stored thousands of PDF documents containing important research and other information commented: "The cure for cancer may very well be in this data, but we haven't found an effective way to do it. .Generative AI will eventually enable every employee and every company to put the intelligence in their files to work."

Personalized work experience

One of the most unique applications of generative AI in the workplace is enabling a more personalized work experience. Today, almost all solutions provide consistent responses based on text prompts. In the future, generative AI agents will have experience working with every employee and be continuously trained by each employee from their preferred repository of information. They can act as powerful employee assistants that better serve employees with speed and results that are truly tailored to their needs and jobs.

infinite possible future

For all business and technology leaders, there are important technical, ethical and operational issues we must consider when introducing artificial intelligence into the workplace. While these questions can be daunting, it is both our opportunity and our responsibility to find an appropriate and proactive path forward. Start small and use generative AI techniques in projects that solve real-world challenges. Work with trusted suppliers who have stood the test of time and who are able to invest heavily in your success. Most importantly, don't just focus on cutting costs, but prioritize projects that will empower your workforce. Amplifying human potential is the most exciting and profound application of generative AI, and indeed of all technologies.
