This news was announced by current Council Chairman Christian Bessiere at the closing ceremony of IJCAI 2023 recently, and will "take over" after the end of his term.
It is reported that Zhou Zhihua will become the first mainland scholar to hold the position of IJCAI in 54 years. As early as 2017, when he was elected chairman of the IJCAI 2021 Program Committee, he was also the first mainland scholar to unlock this achievement.
It is reported that the IJCAl conference is one of the oldest, most authoritative and influential international academic events in the field of artificial intelligence. It started in 1969 and is held every two years (it will be held every year from 2016). The conference aims to promote research, development and application in all aspects of the field of artificial intelligence, and to promote international exchanges and cooperation. In addition to organizing academic conferences, IJCAI also hosts Artificial Intelligence (AIJ), a prestigious academic journal in the field of artificial intelligence, creating the most influential academic platform for artificial intelligence researchers.

About Zhou Zhihua
Zhou Zhihua is currently the dean of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Nanjing University, concurrently dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence of Nanjing University, executive deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of New Computer Software Technologies, director of the Institute of Machine Learning and Data Mining (LAMDA), and member of the academic committee of the university. .
