This article explains the process of installing VMWare ESXi7.0U3n on the ZTE R5500G4 server from the out-of-band BMC through IPV6.
1. Installation environment
server:
ZTE R5500G4 server (2*16C/384GB MEM/2*480GB SSD/24*8TB SATA/12*960GB SSD/8*10Ge)
ISO：VMware-VMvisor-Installer-7.0U3n-21930508.x86_64.iso
2. Mount the image
1. Log in to the server BMC. Since the BMC is configured as an IPV6 address, you need to enter the following address in the browser:
https://[2480::ffdf:2472:e8a4:13c4]
That is, the IPv6 address needs to be enclosed in English wide brackets.
2. Enter the username and password preset by BMC on the welcome interface.
3. You can see the following product BMC management page
4. Select "Yuanhe Control" - "Start KVM (HTML)"
5. In the console interface of the pop-up window, select "Browse File" in the upper right corner
6. Select the VMware-VMvisor-Installer-7.0U3n-21930508.x86_64.iso file
7. Click Open and the image file name will be displayed in the CD image bar.
8. Then click the blue "Start Media" button, the size on the left will change from 0KB to 1052KB
At this point, the image mount is successful.
3. Install ESXi
1. Select Power - Power Restart in the BMC interface and restart the server directly.
2. Press F11 on the boot interface to enter the boot options
3. Select the CD-ROM drive to boot
4. The system starts to boot into ESXi
5. Press Enter to confirm
6. F11 agrees to copyright information
7. Select the system disk
8. Confirm data overwriting information
9. Select keyboard language
10. Enter the root password
11. Press F11 to confirm installation
12. Start the installation process
13. After the installation is complete, press Enter to restart
14. System automatically restarts
15. Installation completed
16. Press F2 to enter the system configuration menu and select Configure Management Network
17. Select IPv4
18. Complete the IPV4 address configuration
19. Confirm the IPV4 address configuration
20. Press ESC to return and press Y to confirm the management network configuration (the management network will be automatically restarted)
21. The management network configuration has taken effect
22. The server can be pinged and the installation is complete.
