1. Go to the Extmail official website to download the open source version Extmail.iso
2. Create an Extmail virtual machine [here I use VMware for demonstration]:
(1) Click the "Create a new virtual machine" button to create a virtual machine, as shown in the figure below:
(2) Select "Custom (Advanced)", click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(3) Select hardware compatibility, which can be selected by default, click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(4 ) Select the downloaded Extmail image, click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(5) Select the client operating system [Linux], version [other Linux4.x kernel], click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(6) Enter the name of the virtual machine and the storage directory, and click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(7) After selecting the CPU configuration, click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(8) Select the memory configuration [recommended 1G+], click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(9) Select the network type [Bridge mode can make the virtual machine and the host machine in the same LAN segment], click "Next", as shown in the figure below: (
10 ) Select the default selection for the remaining configuration. When configuring the disk, [here is recommended 20G disk capacity, and store the disk as a single file], click "Next", as shown in the figure below: (11) Select the default selection for the remaining configuration, and finally click
" Complete", as shown in the figure below, the operation of creating a virtual machine can be completed, as shown in the figure below:
2. Install Extmail system
(1) Click the "Start this virtual machine" button to start the newly created virtual machine and configure it, as shown in the figure below:
(2) Select the first item [Install or upgrade an existing system], and click the "Enter" key, as follows As shown in the figure:
(3) Select "SKIP" through the "→" key, and click "Enter", as shown in the figure below:

(7) Select "Basic Storage Device", and click "Next", as shown in the figure below
(8) Select "Reinitialize all", as shown in the figure below: (9 )
Enter the host name, click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(10) Select [I am the default Shanghai] for the time zone, and click " Next step", as shown in the figure below:
(11) Enter the host password [my password here is 123456], click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(12) Select "Replace the existing Linux system" by default, click "Next "One step", as shown in the figure below:
(13) Select "Write changes to disk", as shown in the figure below:
(14) Select the default, click "Next", as shown in the figure below:
(15) Wait for the end of the system initialization installation After that, click "Reboot" to enter the configuration mail page, as shown in the following figure:
3. Configure mail
(1) Since the operation of the configuration page is not very convenient, I use the default configuration for initialization here, and press "Enter" in the following figure, as shown in the figure below: (2) After the mail server is deployed, it will
jump to the shell page of the system , use the administrator account to log in [administrator account: root, password: 123456, the password here is the password set when installing the system], as shown in the figure below: (3) Use the "ifconfig -a" command to
view the network card, as shown in the figure below Shown:
ifconfig -a
(4) Use "ifconfig eth0 up to start the network card", and configure the IP address for the network card [the IP address needs to be in the same network segment as the host machine], and verify whether the network is smooth [the host machine IP address is: 192.168.1.2], As shown below:
ifconfig etho up
ip addr add 192.168.1.8/24 dev eth0
ifconfig
ping 192.168.1.2
(5) At this point, the mail server configuration has been completed, and the browser accesses "http://192.168.1.8", and logs in to the administrator account. When logging in, the password and verification code need to be entered for the second time, as shown in the figure below: Administrator
account : [email protected]
administrator password: extmail
