CST Simulation Guidance | Object Selection and Its Skillful Operation

The point/line/surface/body selection of the model is the basis of the modeling operation. This article introduces the object selection and some technical operations of CST modeling.

1. Point selection

Point selection is the most commonly used basic operation in the modeling process, it is recommended to keep in mind the shortcut keys;

P, M are used to pick points on a straight line, A, O are used to pick points on a surface, C, R are used to pick points on a curve;

What should I do if I often make wrong selections during operation? There are two ways to cancel the selected objects:
1) If there are few selected objects, it is recommended to directly Clear Picks (shortcut key is D), and then re-select;

2) However, if there are many selected objects and you want to delete one or more of them, it is recommended to use Pick Lists to delete;

Point operation 1: establish a discrete port between any two points;

Point operation 2: Take a point and place a Field Probe;

If you need to place the Probe in the middle area between two points, you can Pick two points, and the default position of the Probe is the center of the two points;

2. Line selection

Line selection: E selects a single line, Shift+E selects all lines in the same plane of the line;

Line operation 1: add surface discrete ports;

3. Face selection

Face selection: F selects a single face (can be a curve), Shift+F selects all faces of the same body, Ctrl+Shift+F selects similar faces;

Face operation 1: Extrude Face (generate body from face), stretch a face vertically to the same plane as the point of another object;

Face operation 2: Modify Face (compression or stretching of the body), moving a certain face of the object (no new body is generated);

Surface operation 3: Simplify the model to chamfer and reduce mesh division;

4. Body selection

Body selection: double-click LMB for single selection, Ctrl+double-click LMB for multiple selection, and Rectangle Selection area selection;
