In order to quantitatively describe the dynamic relationship between surface water environmental quality and pollution discharge, numerical models such as EFDC, MIKE, Delft3D, and Qual2K are widely used in many fields such as environment, water affairs, and oceans. Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC) is a general model package for simulating 3D flow, solute transport, and biochemical processes in rivers, lakes, estuaries, reservoirs, wetlands, and offshore surface water systems. The EFDC model was originally a public domain software developed by John Hamrick et al. of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), College of Oceanography, University of William and Mary (Hamrick, 1992). With the support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), EFDC has become an important member of the recommended model family of the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), and is increasingly favored by domestic researchers. It has been applied in research on the properties of water and sand, environmental impact assessment planning, etc. EFDC is a free and open-source numerical model with hundreds of related parameters, but currently there are few introductions and examples related to EFDC, and even fewer Chinese books. For beginners, it is difficult to quickly grasp and apply EFDC to solve practical problems; in addition , because EFDC is free and open source, it is still in the semi-mature stage, and a lot of practical experience is needed in the use process.
