1. Download and install Parallels Desktop for Mac
- If you are new to Parallels Desktop for Mac , please click to download the latest version: visit
- If you are already a Parallels Desktop user, proceed to the next steps.
2. Automatically download and install Windows
You can easily download Windows 11 ARM through Parallels Desktop when you start Parallels Desktop for the first time . Click the Parallels
icon in the Mac menu bar , then click New… > Get Windows 10 from Microsoft > Download Windows 10 .
3. Install Windows from the source computer
1. Create a new virtual machine
In the Applications folder, open Parallels Desktop.app and choose File > New .
Select Install Windows or another operating system from a DVD or image file and click Continue .
2. Select the installation medium
Windows can be installed from a DVD, . iso disk image, or a bootable USB stick.
Important note: Windows installation files with the .exe extension can only be used to upgrade existing Windows virtual machines (VMs). If you are installing a new Windows, the .exe file is not suitable. Please contact your local retailer to request a physical disk or .iso image.
Setup Assistant will automatically detect the available installation media to install Windows.
You can also switch to manual mode and select the Windows installation source.
3. Enter the Windows license key
Click to continue . Enter your Windows license key to automatically activate Windows upon installation.
If you don't have a Windows license key, click Continue , then click Skip . To activate Windows at a later time, follow the instructions in this article .
When ready, click Continue .
4. Select Windows version
Starting with Parallels Desktop 16 , you can choose your Windows edition before starting Windows installation, so you don't need to choose your Windows edition during installation.
After selecting the desired version of Windows, click the Finish button.
5. Choose how you want to use Windows
Choose how you want to use Windows in Parallels Desktop for Mac Standard Edition:

Choose how you want to use Windows in Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition and Business Edition:
- software development
- software test
- design
6. Specify name and location
Name: You can specify a name for your virtual machine.
Location: The default location for Parallels Desktop virtual machines is /Users/username/Parallels/ .
Select Customize settings before installation if you want to change the default virtual machine settings . These settings can also be changed after installation.
7. Start the installation
Click Continue and the Windows installation will begin. After Windows is installed, start Windows by opening a Windows application or by clicking the Power button in Control Center.
8. Install Parallels Tools
When you start Windows for the first time, Parallels Tools is installed for seamless operation between Windows and macOS. Please do not cancel or stop this installation process. After the Parallels Tools installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart Windows.
