35+ older programmers from anxiety to soaring income: My money-making sideline sharing.

The 37-year-old programmer once felt that his career was over. There was no opportunity for promotion and salary increase, and the outside companies either couldn’t afford my salary, or they were too busy to balance work and family. I felt that I was in a dead end... Fortunately, I regained my strength and decided to use side jobs and part-time jobs to fill the gaps and gaps in my main business

. Today I will share some of my experiences.

First of all, it is to determine the part-time job direction that you are good at

Everyone is good at different part-time jobs. There is no best one, only the most suitable one. The sidelines of my peers include but are not limited to:

① Opening Didi/delivering food:
This is a relatively easy part-time job, but there is no technical content. Most people will use this kind of part-time job as a way to pass the time and keep fit. Many elders said that in fact, they don’t care about the money, what they want is to chat with passengers on Didi/Hitch Car, and what they want is to deliver food and increase the amount of exercise by the way.
Most importantly, wouldn't it be nice to have some extra money?

② Self-media:
Now that new media is so popular, many people are eager to make a move. There are also many successful self-media programmers around, some of them are related to the technology of their own industry, and some are in their own field of interest. They make a lot of money, and some have no splash. It takes talent and hard work to make self-media.
There are friends around me who are programmers, locomotives, peripherals, and even a big brother who hatched a big one by chatgpt. Whether it is talent or appearance, as long as the data is considerable, you can try it. This is a relatively challenging part-time job.

③Doing private work orders:
This is the most common sideline job for programmers, because compared to other part-time jobs, private work projects (for programmers) are the fastest to get started, have the highest production ratio, and the income is also very objective.

Personally, I currently mainly receive orders for private work, so I would like to share with you my process of receiving orders.

The pits and mines I stepped on

When I first started taking orders for private work, I also stepped on a lot of pitfalls. Here I will share the pitfalls that are easy for novices to step on:

①Be wary of acquaintance traps:

Don't relax your vigilance just because you are an acquaintance, even if it is a list introduced by an acquaintance, you should be cautious. Don't talk about the construction period, budget, or set restrictions just because you are an acquaintance! At the beginning, my former colleague introduced me to a list. I thought it was an introduction from an acquaintance, so I didn’t deposit a deposit in advance. As a result, the project was disbanded, the developer ran away, and I worked for four or five days as a white job...

② After the project is negotiated and cooperated, an agreement or contract must be signed

If you don’t follow the rules, you must sign a legally effective agreement and contract after the project has been initially negotiated, specifying the project acceptance criteria, project time, payment time, after-sale guarantee, etc., so that the rights and interests of both parties are guaranteed.

③ It is very important to choose a platform for receiving orders

A good order receiving platform can save you a lot of trouble, and it can also allow you to quickly locate the outsourcing part-time project that suits you, and quickly start your order receiving career.
The criteria for screening outsourcing order receiving platforms are:

The platform is formal, the payment is fast, the order quantity is large, and the project security is guaranteed.

Based on these criteria, I screened a few platforms:

Programmer Inn has a large number of orders, low fees, and a large number of projects, but due to the large number of categories, it needs to be carefully screened; Freelancer, the largest freelancer platform
in the country, is large in scale and covers a variety of projects, most of which are overseas projects, requiring a certain level of English skills ;

Order process and precautions

Part-time programmers also have a complete set of sop, the basic process is:

Settling in the platform - Submit review materials and basic information - Communicate with the outsourcer - Sign the contract after confirming the intention - Complete the project in stages and collect payment - Deliver the project - Settle the final payment.

Among them, the signing of the contract and the delivery method of the payment, the project acceptance standard is the most important.

Others, you can learn slowly in the process of trying outsourcing orders~

I hope everyone can find a part-time job that suits them.
