4.3 million yuan was defrauded in 10 minutes, and the success rate of AI fraud is close to 100%

Recently, a piece of news has attracted widespread attention: Baotou City Public Security Bureau Telecommunications Network Crime Investigation Bureau released a case of telecommunications fraud using intelligent AI technology.
A friend of Mr. Guo, the legal representative of a technology company in Fuzhou City, suddenly contacted him via WeChat video. After a short chat, the friend told Mr. Guo that his friend needed a deposit of 4.3 million yuan for bidding in other places, and he needed to transfer accounts from a business to business account. He wanted to borrow Mr. Guo's company account to settle the payment.
The friend asked Mr. Guo for the bank card number, claiming that the money had been transferred to the account, and also sent a screenshot of the bank transfer slip to Mr. Guo. Based on the trust of the video chat, Mr. Guo did not verify whether the money was in the account, but sent 4.3 million yuan to the other party in two successively at 11:49.
But when Mr. Guo took the initiative to send a message to his friend on WeChat, saying that the matter had been settled, the friend didn't even know. Only then did he realize that he had encountered a "high-end" scam. The other party used the intelligent AI face-changing technology to pretend to be a friend and defrauded him.
"From the beginning to the end, he didn't mention the loan to me. He said that he would call me the money first, and then let me transfer it to his friend's account. He also called me in the video at that time, and I also confirmed it in the video. Face and voice, so I let down my guard." Mr. Guo said.
It is worth noting that the scammer did not use a simulated friend WeChat to add Mr. Guo as a friend, but directly used the friend WeChat to initiate a video chat, which is one of the reasons why Mr. Guo was deceived. It is very likely that the scammers stole the WeChat of Mr. Guo's friends through technical means.
According to news from Hubei Internet Police Patrol and Law Enforcement on May 6, AI technology has changed fraud. After the new scam hit, the success rate of fraud was close to 100%. This means that as long as you encounter AI fraud, you are likely to be deceived.

Scammers extract someone's voice by harassing phone recordings, etc., and synthesize the voice after obtaining the material, so that they can deceive the other party with a fake voice. Because the face effect is easier to gain the trust of the other party, the scammer uses AI technology to change the face, can pretend to be anyone, and then confirm the information through video.
In addition to AI face-changing and synthetic voice, there are also some fraudulent methods that are hard to guard against. Not long ago, scammers cheated by forwarding WeChat voice. It is worth mentioning that in these scams, the scammers do not spread the net aimlessly, but use AI technology to screen the deceived people according to the deception to be carried out, and target specific targets with ulterior motives. For example, when conducting financial fraud, small partners who often collect investment information will become their potential targets.
The police reminded: the public should raise their awareness of prevention against the smart AI fraud that has been refurbished! ! ! Multi-factor authentication to confirm identity
