At 20:30 GMT+8 on August 4, 2021, the CSSA Token network was successfully upgraded to version 2.0. This upgrade introduces COSIO V1.8, which is a set of built-in protocols specifying the CSSA Token protocol. The new version of the protocol feature has higher performance and faster verification time.

It is important for all blockchain projects to ensure that the time required for block verification is less than the frequency of block generation. On the CSSA Token network, a block is generated every 30 seconds, so it is very important that the time used for block verification must be less than 30 seconds. Of course, block validation depends on a variety of factors: the hardware specifications of the node, the size of the chain database, other processes running on the node, and so on.
Before the 2.0 upgrade, medium-quality nodes operated smoothly, and the block verification time was less than 30 seconds. However, slower nodes and those that keep the full chain history (with very large databases) also take longer to verify, putting them at risk of getting out of sync in the event of a slowdown. While most miners using high-performance hardware and smaller chain databases will not be affected, other important members of the ecosystem, including exchanges and archive nodes, are starting to experience some slowdowns and occasional sync issues. The health of the entire network is negatively affected.
One of the reasons for the slow sync time is the inefficiency of the sector code in handling newly created nodes. Over the past few months, the network has experienced some waves of spam creating miners on-chain, resulting in a plethora of empty miner entries.
Rolling out this improvement in the 2.0 network upgrade also proactively prevents future CreateMiner spam from turning into an attack vector for slower nodes. Because reducing the time spent processing empty mining machines can greatly reduce block verification time, thereby improving performance.

The community quickly completed the 2.0 upgrade within 48 hours, proving its ability to quickly upgrade if needed in the future. Rapid upgrades such as these rely on effective communication channels between the CSSA Token executive team and each node operator (including CSSA miners, CSSA clients, and exchanges). In order for everyone to participate, the CSSA Token community engineer announced the details of the upgrade in the community forum, including the upgrade points, the upgrade block height and the link to the release schedule, and updated the CSSA Token network status page so that Its notifications can be subscribed to. The development team then responded quickly to ensure everyone had a timely and smooth upgrade of their node through multiple support channels, including forums, Slack channels, and more.
Properly implementing such changes in a short period of time also requires a rigorous testing and release process. The Cosio team was able to do this using a new planning checklist developed over the past few months. Also, in response to community feedback, the Cosio team ensured that no untested optional features were introduced in this mandatory release. Instead, this network upgrade change was released on top of COSIO V1.8, which is the latest stable version of Cosio and has been tested.
