Performance introduction:

The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is the latest in the popular Raspberry Pi line of computers. It offers breakthrough increases in processor speed, multimedia performance, memory and connectivity compared to the previous-generation Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, while maintaining backward compatibility and similar power consumption. For end users, the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B offers desktop performance comparable to entry-level x86 PC systems.

Key features of this product include a high-performance 64-bit quad-core processor, dual-display support at up to 4K resolution via a pair of micro-HDMI ports, hardware video decoding up to 4Kp60, up to 8GB of RAM, and dual bandwidth 2.4/5.0 GHz Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 and PoE capability (via separate PoE HAT add-on).

Dual-band WLAN and Bluetooth have modular compliance certifications that allow the board to be designed into the end product and greatly reduce compliance testing, improving cost and time-to-market.

Raspberry Pi Accessories Selection

Due to the limitation of Raspberry Pi's own hardware performance, the higher the performance, the better the choice of accessories. Even if the high-speed solid state is supported by USB3.0, the limit theory can only play a reading and writing speed of 640MB/s. Therefore, the accessories are selected as appropriate.

Selection of power supply:

The power supply should use a DC adapter with a rated power of not less than 5V/3A or 5.1V/3A. It is recommended to use a DC adapter with a higher power.

If the current of the USB peripheral is less than 500mA, you can choose a 5V/2.5A power supply. Explain that the Raspberry Pi reserves 1A power for USB peripherals, but the 2.5-inch mechanical hard disk cannot work normally, and a USB extender with independent power supply is required.

The general full-speed power consumption of a 3.5-inch mechanical hard drive is only about 12W, and that of a 2.5-inch hard drive is only about 5W. The full speed power consumption of the solid state drive is only about 10W. The working power is generally 2-3W, and the standby power is less than 1W.

Suggestions for power supply selection:

In order to reduce the number of power plugs, it is recommended to use MEAN WELL's 5V/20A adapter for the power supply, and then purchase a USB power supply extender to provide power for peripherals (desk lamps, USB splitters, set-top boxes, HDMI switches, etc.).

Due to the limited current function of the USB power supply extender or the insufficient maximum output power capability, the power cord of the Raspberry Pi should be directly pressed on the adapter terminal. power off.

The USB splitter should be purchased with the USB3.0 standard and connected to the Raspberry Pi USB3.0 interface (the interface with the blue tongue), so as to maximize the read and write speed of the storage peripherals. It is better to connect other wired keyboard and mouse peripherals to the USB splitter to reduce the power consumption of the Raspberry Pi and prevent running heavy-duty applications from causing insufficient power supply.

Raspberry Pi shell selection:

The active cooling case is recommended to use Argon ONE V2 + Argon ONEM M.2 NVME expansion version. Note that the solid-state hard drive interface uses M Key, and the speed does not need to be the highest, because the maximum bandwidth of USB3.0 is only 5Gbps, equivalent to 640MB/s, full-duplex bus, the theoretical maximum read and write speed is only 640MB/s, buy a 7000MB/s The solid-state hard drive can't perform well.

We recommend Weixue CNC aluminum alloy shell for passive heat dissipation. Of course, you can connect a fan from +5V/GND of GPIO and stick it on the position of the Raspberry Pi logo. The heat dissipation effect is better. The fan should be a silent fan . To choose A1, it needs to be processed to cut off the bayonet, otherwise it will collide with the metal shell and cannot be installed.

Memory card/U disk selection

For a detailed explanation of memory card parameters and indicators, you can refer to Kingston's official instructions. It is best to choose a memory card with a U3 logo.

U disk must choose USB3.0 standard, the higher the reading and writing speed, the better.
