About DAMA International CDMP certification, everything you want to know is here~

Introduction to CDMP Certification

Data management is one of the youngest professions. A mature profession has standards, expected performance, audits and ongoing checks. Over time, these measures improve outcomes across the industry. Through gradual improvement and encouragement, people are more and more respected and trusted.

Professional certification is a comprehensive mark of knowledge, skills and experience in a field. DAMA International has established the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP). Certification programs can provide data management professionals with professional development opportunities to advance their personal and professional goals.

Certified professionals are required to participate in continuing education activities to master best practices and further develop specialized skills. Most data management training typically focuses on developing skills using specific technology products. The focus on technical training often obscures the fact that data management is a business function.

The following table presents CDMP's certification program information:

Individuals are welcome to remain at any certification level. It is up to you to decide which level to obtain and whether to pursue higher-level certification.

Expert level has minimum required experience. As part of the process, you need to submit your resume for review after passing the exam. After passing the review, you will receive an expert level certificate. An administrative fee of $50 is required for expert level review evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I am often asked some questions about CDMP certification. Combined with the information on the CDMP certification website of DAMA International, the following content is summarized for your reference. For more details, please refer to the official certification website cdmp.info .

Q: Do I need to be a DAMA member to take the CDMP exam?

Answer: No need. Three-year DAMA International individual membership is available upon first purchase of the exam.

Q: Are there any requirements for the time and place of the exam?

Answer: The CDMP exam is an online computer-based exam with remote invigilation, and you can take the exam in a quiet and solitary environment. There is no need to make an appointment for a fixed test time, and it supports 7*24 test services. No one other than the examinee can appear in the camera throughout the test, and the test computer desktop cannot be switched to other pages except the test webpage, and the computer is not allowed to display in split screens.

Q: How much does CDMP certification cost?

A: Each exam costs $311, including a $11 proctoring fee.

A (Associate) level, one exam, $311;

P (Practitioner) level, three subjects with an average score of 70 or above, each subject is US$311;

M (Master) level, three subjects with an average score of 80 or above, each subject is $311, plus a review fee of $50.

The retake fee for each exam is $211, including a $11 proctoring fee.

Note:

1) Examination registration fee will not expire after successful payment, and no refund is supported.

2) After the registration and payment of the first exam, you can get a three-year DAMA International individual membership.

Q: How long is the exam time for each exam?

A: Each exam is 100 questions. The answering time is 90 minutes. If your native language is not English, you can add an additional 20 minutes to answer the questions, but you need to purchase a different version of the test.

Q: Can the name displayed on the certificate be in Chinese?

A: The name in the 'Display name' of the exam registration account will appear on the certificate. If you want to display the Chinese name on the certificate, you can set it in this field. But please note that the 'Full name' (full name) must be in pinyin, otherwise the certificate cannot be issued.

Q: Is the test only in English?

A: At present, the examination questions are all in English, but you can answer the questions in Chinese. If you are not a native speaker of English, registering for the ESL (English as a Second Language) version of the test will add 20 minutes to the test time. During the exam, you can use the browser to translate into the native language to answer the questions. Please note that it can only be translated in the form of the entire exam web page, and you cannot use other translation tools to query, nor can you switch desktops or use split-screen display.

Q: I heard that the CDMP exam can be flipped through the book?

Answer: The CDMP exam can be turned over "conditionally". The condition here means that you can only read one book during the whole exam, and the book can be in paper version or electronic version, but you cannot read paper books and e-books at the same time. A book can be DMBoK2. If you want to use the electronic version, you need to use another device to read it, such as a tablet device or a laptop. Note that this device cannot be connected to the exam device, nor can it be split-screened on the same computer. The second device should also not be connected to the network during the exam. If study notes are used during the exam, they must be in hard copy only. If you want to use the electronic version of the notes, it will be considered as a "book" that is allowed to be viewed, and you cannot view other electronic materials. Similarly, the electronic version of the notes also needs to be viewed on another device. If you want to score higher in the test, you still need to master as much knowledge as possible, and it is too late to turn the book!

Q: How long does it take to get a certificate after passing the exam?

Answer: After passing the exam, you will receive a Badge (badge). The badge is automatically issued by the system to the e-mail address registered for the test within 10 days, and usually can be received on the same day after the test. An electronic certificate will be issued within 10 days of receiving the badge. Usually, you can receive the certificate through the registered email address within one week after the badge is issued. Please note that you must receive the badge before you can receive the certificate. If you have not received the certificate for more than 10 days, you need to contact CDMP support staff.

Q: How long is CDMP certification valid?

A: The certification is valid for 3 years. Three-year DAMA International individual membership is available upon first purchase of the exam. After this free qualification expires, it is necessary to purchase a DAMA International membership to keep the certificate valid. Please note that the membership of each DAMA chapter cannot remain valid after the expiration of the CDMP certificate.

Q: Is Badge just a picture?

A: A Badge is more than just a picture. It includes verifiable metadata and can be used for resumes, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc. The CDMP badge adopts the mainstream Openbadges standard. Your badges are stored at badgr.com. When you pass an exam to earn a badge, you will receive an email prompting you to create a Badgr account. It is strongly recommended to create an association with the email address that accesses Canvas, so as to collect subsequent CDMP badges.

Certificates show the certification level earned, and the level achieved for each exam is shown by a badge. For example, if you score 60 points in the Data Management Fundamentals basic course exam, you will receive an Associate badge and an Associate certificate; with 70 points, you will receive two badges and an Associate certificate for Associate and Practitioner; for 80 points, you will receive three badges and an Associate certificate; If the score is above, you can continue to take professional course exams and strive for P or M certificates.

Q: Can I retake the exam if I fail?

A: You can retake the exam. The retake fee for each exam is $211, including a $11 proctoring fee. There is no time interval requirement between the previous exam and the retake. Registration for retakes is included in the first exam notification. If the score on the retake is lower than the previous test, the previous highest score will be retained.
