docker and nvidia-docker installation (deep learning environment configuration)

docker installation:

step 1: Install some necessary system tools

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install apt-transport-https ca-certificates curl software-properties-common

step 2: Install the GPG certificate

curl -fsSL http://mirrors.aliyun.com/docker-ce/linux/ubuntu/gpg | sudo apt-key add -

Step 3: Write software source information

sudo add-apt-repository "deb [arch=amd64] http://mirrors.aliyun.com/docker-ce/linux/ubuntu $(lsb_release -cs) stable"

Step 4: Update and install Docker-CE

sudo apt-get -y update
sudo apt-get -y install docker-ce

Step 5: Restart the container service:

sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl restart docker

Install NVIDIA-docker

Step 1: Uninstall the old version of nvidia-docker (if it has been installed, you can skip it)

sudo docker volume ls -q -f driver=nvidia-docker | xargs -r -I{} -n1 docker ps -q -a -f volume={} | xargs -r docker rm -f

sudo apt-get purge -y nvidia-docker

sudo apt autoremove

Setp 2: Add apt-key

curl -s -L https://nvidia.github.io/nvidia-docker/gpgkey | sudo apt-key add -

Step 3: Add system version

distribution=$(. /etc/os-release;echo $ID$VERSION_ID)

Step 4: Update sourcelist

curl -s -L https://nvidia.github.io/nvidia-docker/$distribution/nvidia-docker.list | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nvidia-docker.list

sudo apt-get update

Step 5: Install nvidia-docker

sudo apt-get install -y nvidia-docker2
sudo pkill -SIGHUP dockerd

Step 6: Restart the container

sudo systemctl restart docker

test demo

sudo docker run --runtime=nvidia --rm nvidia/cuda nvidia-smi
