Eaton Continues to Expand Vehicle Electrification in Europe to Support EV Growth

Eaton, the intelligent power management company, announced today that it will continue to expand and develop the design capabilities, technology and operations of its European Vehicle Electrification business to support global electric vehicle manufacturers. These upgrades will support Eaton's continued supply of electric vehicle solutions to global manufacturers of passenger cars, commercial vehicles and off-highway vehicles.

Monterogi produces power electronics components for global electric vehicle manufacturers

Eaton’s Vehicle Electrification business unit has invested in a state-of-the-art power electronics manufacturing facility in Montrose, France, with plans to begin high-volume production in mid-2023. Power Electronics leverages Eaton's expertise in managing high-voltage power supplies to create advanced vehicle inverter controllers and DC/DC converters with a focus on power density and efficiency.

Tczew Plant Increases Production of Vehicle Electrification Products

Eaton also expanded its existing factory in Tczew, Poland this year to increase production capacity for electric vehicles to meet the needs of European and global customers. Plant employees, company leaders and government representatives celebrated the transformation of the plant.

"The addition of vehicle electrification product production at one of our key plants reflects Eaton's ability to provide customers with the solutions they need during the transition from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric powertrains," said Schneider.

Bonn factory designs award-winning Breaktor circuit protection technology

Eaton's factory in Bonn, Germany has been undertaking sophisticated electrical engineering design and testing tasks for many years, focusing on industrial control and protection and power distribution. The Bonn team made full use of their professional knowledge and capabilities in the electrical field, applied it to electric vehicle systems, and designed the Breaktor® circuit protection technology, which made the electric vehicle circuit protection solutions currently on the market develop by leaps and bounds.

This new circuit protection solution won the "Best Technology" award in the field of electrification at Hyundai-Kia Motors Corporation's annual "R&D Partner Technology Day". Prior to this, Eaton's Breaktor circuit protection technology has received other honors, including Automotive News' PACEpilot Award and Gasgoo's 2022 Golden Series Award - China's Powertrain Electrification Field Automotive New Supply Chain Top 100 strong enterprise.

New facility in Karlsruhe, Germany becomes home for customer interaction and engineering services

Eaton built new offices and laboratory facilities in Karlsruhe last year, including workstations and a laboratory. With its proximity to key manufacturers and suppliers, the new office serves as Eaton's base for customer engagement and engineering services in the region. It will soon have a brand new innovation and testing laboratory for power electronics and distribution product testing, enabling fast turnaround testing of the latest vehicle electrification products. Eaton also expanded vehicle electrification product production in Gummersbach, Germany, and Gyor, Hungary, using its Electrification segment's manufacturing facilities.
