I want to set Ubuntu to bridge mode and use two network ports, one to connect to the Internet and one to connect to my own LAN.
I use two network ports of the R740, NIC2 (connected to the LAN) and NIC4 (connected to the Internet).
Problem: No matter how I connect, I can’t connect or ping as I imagined .
First of all, I set up two bridging networks VMnet2 and VMnet4, which are bridged to the two corresponding network ports of the R740. Generally speaking, using VMnet2 is equivalent to using NIC2, and using VMnet4 is equivalent to using NIC4, but I can neither connect to the Internet, I couldn’t ping my own LAN
, but I found that the problem was due to my own mindset. When I selected the network port in the VMware virtual network editor, I felt that the name corresponding to the NIC4 port was Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet #4, and the corresponding name to the NIC2 port was Should be Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet #4
However, the name corresponding to the NIC4 port is Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet, and the name corresponding to the NIC2 port is Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet #3
Therefore, when selecting the network port in the virtual network editor, you must confirm whether the network port and the name correspond to each other in the change adapter option of windows.
