The multi-level list that comes with Word often does not meet the format requirements we need. At this time, we need to customize the style of the multi-level list according to the format requirements, so as to directly generate the multi-level list format we need during the writing process.
-
Create a new style "1 title" and set the corresponding format according to the requirements;
-
Select "Define New Multilevel List" from the drop-down menu of "Multilevel List" in the "Start" toolbar;
-
Now we are defining the first-level list of the multi-level list, so we need to adjust the "level to be modified by clicking" and "level to be displayed in the library" to "level 1", and link the level to the previously added Style "1 Title";
-
Repeat the above steps to create a new style "1.1 Title" and define a new multi-level list. At this time, we define the second-level list of the multi-level list, so we need to "click the level to be modified", "to be in the library The displayed level" is adjusted to "level 2", and the level is linked to the previously added style "1.1 title";
-
Repeat the above steps to define the third-level list of the multi-level list;
-
Define each level of the multi-level list according to their own needs. After the definition is completed, you can use the custom title style in the "Style" in the "Start" toolbar.
Save custom style to word library
-
Click the lower right arrow symbol in the "Style" in the "Start" toolbar;
-
In the pop-up interface, select the third button "Manage Style" at the bottom;
-
In the "Manage Styles" interface, select "Import/Export" at the bottom;
-
Select our newly created style on the left side of the "Manager" interface, and click the "Copy" button in the middle to save the style to the word standard library.
In the same way, we can also export the styles in the Normal standard library to the newly created word file.
Tip:
If you bind a multi-level list with a custom style, when inserting a caption to a picture and requiring chapter numbering, the serial number of the caption cannot recognize the chapter number of the picture, and needs to be adjusted manually: right-click Caption -> " Edit Field" and connect it to the corresponding chapter style.
If you need to number captions by chapter, it is recommended to modify the default "Title" style in word according to the required format, and then bind the multi-level list to the corresponding title, so that you can use chapter captions normally.
