Some problems and solutions:

The device device cannot be selected in the openmediavault shared folder creation problem:

  1. First umount the mounted target storage device in the background, such as /dev/sdb1
# umount /dev/sdb1
  1. On the openmediavault management page, press the button to mount it in the Storage–filesystem. After the mount is successful, the device has been mounted to a directory under /media/ in the background.
  2. Then set the shared folder on the openmediavault management page, and then you can choose Device.

The guess is that the device in the shared folder of openmediavault can only be the storage device that is manually mounted through the page, and the storage device that is pre-mounted in the background of the system cannot be selected for security reasons.
