European Space Agency (esa) download Sentinel-Sentinel image- (the most complete explanation in history, suitable for all ages)

foreword

It has been more than half a year since the last blog "Sentinel2 Sentinel 2 Data Download Method (USGS)" . Today I will explain how to download Sentinel images through ESA.

1. ESA official website

https://scihub.copernicus.eu/dhus/#/home

2. Website Registration

1. After opening the website, as shown in the figure below, those who already have an account can log in directly, and those who have not registered click sign up in the figure to register. Note: You need to use a ladder to surf the Internet scientifically.

2. The following interface pops up, just fill in the corresponding information, and then click Register in the lower right corner.

3. Next, you will receive an email, as shown in the figure below, click the URL in the picture to activate (the mosaic part in the figure is the activated URL).

3. Image download parameter setting

1. Go back to the login interface, enter your registered account password, log in, and the following interface will pop up. Click on the three horizontal lines in the picture (the red box in the picture), and the lower-level list will pop up, where you can set the filter conditions for the image.

2. This part introduces the settings of image filtering. The first box mainly sets the image acquisition method (here divided into Ingestion Date and Sensing Date), sorting method (Ascending and Descending). Select Ingestion Date or Sensing Date as required and set the corresponding date.

3. Next select the sensor type, there are Sentinel 1, 2 and 5 to choose from. Taking Sentinel 2 as an example, the Satellite Platform (satellite platform) has two types, S2A and S2B, and the Product Type (product type) has 1C/2A and 2Ap options (the difference between 2A and 1C is that it has undergone atmospheric correction, and I don’t know about 2Ap. If you need it, you can learn it by yourself); Relative Orbit Number (from 1 to 143), if you know the corresponding orbit number, you can set this option, if you don’t need it, you can ignore it; Cloud Cover % (eg[0 TO 9.4]): Set the cloud amount, Note that [] must be marked when setting the cloud amount here, such as [0 TO 10].
After completing the above settings, click the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the picture.

4. Determine the scope of image download

1. After completing the above operations, the following interface will pop up. None of the above operations have set the research area and the corresponding track number. How can I find the images in the research area where I am located?

2. Since the European Space Agency does not support uploading the area of interest, we can only find out the scope of the research area by comparing the map images, taking Beijing as an example.
Locate the approximate position, click the red box 1 in the figure, and click the left button of the mouse to draw the research area. After drawing, it is shown in box 2 in the figure (the blue border is the drawn area).
Click the red box 3 in the figure to filter.

3. After screening as follows. Box 1 in the figure is the delineated research area. Box 2 is the image range involving the study area. Box 3 is the filtered image result. Hovering the mouse in the image results column on the left will display the corresponding location in the shaded range on the right.

4. Determine the downloaded images according to the needs, click the green tick in the box in the figure to check, as shown in the figure below, select the corresponding 4 scene images.
Click the shopping cart at 2 places below to add it to the shopping cart.

5. Video download

1. Click the shopping cart at the red box 1 to pop up the following interface. Check the box at the red box 2 to check the images to be downloaded. Note that you can only check one at a time, and you cannot check in batches . Then click the download symbol at box 3 to download.

6. Offline products

1. If offiline appears in the result column, it means that the product has been offline. Don't panic, add it to your cart.

insert image description here

2. Click the shopping cart, select the image of the scene, and click the download button below to apply for downloading the image. At this time, the system will prompt that the application has been submitted (as shown in the figure below), indicating that the system starts to upload data to the server at this time; sometimes an error will be prompted after adding the image to the shopping cart and then clicking download. Don’t be nervous at this time, it may be the network If it is caused by communication, refresh the webpage and click the download button again until the prompt message shown in the above figure appears, which means the application is successful.

3. After the image upload application is completed, wait for the status of the image in the shopping cart to become online (the result after success is shown in the figure below), and then download it. The waiting time is uncertain, it can be as fast as an hour or two, or as slow as several days, depending on your luck.

7. Supplement

1. Advantages of ESA download: You can choose the corresponding products, such as Sentinel 2’s 1C and 2A, not all 2A products in the time range, generally you can download 2A products for nearly a year; Disadvantage: Can’t upload
interested It is impossible to accurately locate the area of the research area, and it can only be roughly compared. When the research area is large, it is extremely inconvenient to use this method; in addition, it cannot be downloaded in batches.

2. If you want to accurately locate your own research area (upload the file of the area of interest), and want to download images in batches, you can download them through the USGS website.
