He, the first doctor trained in New China, obtained the No. 001 doctorate certificate , a person of great significance in the history of doctoral students in China- Ma Zhongqi .
In 1977, China resumed the college entrance examination. In 1981, my country also ushered in the first batch of undergraduate graduates. On February 6, 1982 , the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences held the first doctoral dissertation defense since the founding of New China.
The lineup of teachers participating in the defense was very luxurious, almost gathering the top figures in the scientific research field at that time . The chairman of the defense committee was Academician Peng Hengwu, the father of "two bombs and one satellite" , and the defense committee members were Academician Hu Ning, Academician Zhu Hongyuan, Academician Dai Yuanben, and Academician Gu Chaohao , Professor Hou Boyu, and Professor Li Huazhong.
In March 1982, a high-level doctoral dissertation was unanimously approved by the seven defense committees on the spot by secret ballot . Academician Qian Sanqiang, a nuclear physicist who was the director of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at the time, issued the first doctoral degree certificate in China. The doctoral certificate number is "10001", also known as China's No. 001 doctor.
On May 27, 1983, 18 doctors passed their doctoral dissertation defenses one after another, and the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding conferences in New China were held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Ma Zhongqi, the first doctor in China , spoke on behalf of the first batch of doctors and masters in China.
Ma Zhongqi, who is he?
Ma Zhongqi was born in Shanghai, China in 1940. From 1951 to 1956, when Ma Zhongqi was studying at Shanghai Shidong Middle School, he became very interested in physics with excellent grades . In 1956, Ma Zhongqi, who was only 16 years old, was admitted to the Physics Department of Lanzhou University.
In 1964, the state mobilized in-service cadres to take postgraduate entrance examinations. Ma Zhongqi, who had in-depth research and strong interest in physics, became a blockbuster and stood out . Under the name of Mr. Hu Ning, engaged in physics research.
But things backfired. During that movement, he was forced to stop continuing his graduate studies . But Ma Zhongqi never gave up. After finishing his work every day, he squeezed out a certain amount of time to continue studying and secretly engage in scientific research .
In 1977, the campaign finally came to an end, and the Ministry of Education decided to recall some college students who had enrolled in 1964 and 1965 to return to school to study.
In January 1978, when Ma Zhongqi returned to Beijing to visit his teacher Hu Ning, he was overjoyed when he heard the news of the resumption of postgraduate enrollment. He felt that his persistence over the years had finally paid off. However, there is an age regulation in it , which only recruits 35 years old, and he was 38 years old at the time, which made his red-hot heart suddenly cool down.
But later, the enrollment age was relaxed to 40 years old, and I was fortunate to be selected by history . As mentioned above, I became the first doctor in China.
After graduating with a Ph.D., he entered the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and engaged in theoretical physics research until his retirement in 2005.
