[Strategy - Graphical Installation] Installation of EVE-NG Simulator

EVE-NG is a popular network virtualization platform that can be used to test, learn, and demonstrate various network architectures and topologies. The following describes how to install the EVE-NG emulator on the Chinese version of VMware.

Step 1: Download the EVE-NG virtual machine image

Download the latest version of the EVE-NG virtual machine image from the EVE-NG official website. Once the download is complete, unzip it. The official website download link is as follows:

https://www.eve-ng.cn/doku.php?id=wget:downloadhttps://www.eve-ng.cn/doku.php?id=wget:download

Step 2: Create EVE-NG virtual machine

Open VMware, select "Open Virtual Machine", find the downloaded EVE-NG image file (the file name usually ends with .ovf), and select "Open".

Step 3: Import the EVE-NG virtual machine

After opening the EVE-NG image, you will enter the "import virtual machine interface", the interface is as follows:

After setting the name and storage path of the new virtual machine, select "Import" (Note: it is recommended to select a disk other than the system disk for the storage path and create a new folder as the storage folder of the virtual machine). After importing, the EVE image file will be automatically imported into VMware. The process takes about 1-2 minutes, and the import can be canceled in the middle.

Step 4: EVE-NG virtual machine configuration

After the import of the virtual machine is complete, the virtual machine installation phase is complete. Next configure the virtual machine.

Select "Start the virtual machine" and wait for about 2 minutes to enter the pre-configuration interface (if you can't enter it all the time, you can reduce the memory size and the number of processors in the "Edit virtual machine settings" option).

The pre-configuration interface will prompt the system default login password: eve, web login address: 192.168.136.133 (the system default IP address acquisition method is DHCP). Enter the account password to log in to the system for configuration. The default account is: root.

After entering the configuration interface, configure according to the prompts.

Change the password of the root account, which is usually eve by default.

After modifying the password, enter the modified password again for confirmation.

Modify the host name, the default is eve-ng, it is recommended not to modify it. If you need to modify, just add the letters that need to be modified after.

Modify DNS, it is recommended not to modify.

Select the IP address acquisition method, it is recommended to select the DHCP mode.

Modify the NTP server, it is recommended not to modify.

Choose the VMware networking method, and it is recommended to choose direct connection.

The pre-configuration is here and the configuration is complete. After selecting "OK", the virtual machine will restart. After the restart is complete, it will enter the system interface.

According to the information on the system interface, the web login address is 192.168.136.133, copy the login IP address to the browser to enter the device simulation interface.

Step 5: Log in to the EVE-NG emulator

The default account for web login is admin, and the password is eve (enter the modified password according to the modified password). Enter the LAB interface.

Even if the EVE-NG simulator is installed here, you can create a new lab to simulate and do experiments!
