Driven by 5G, various emerging applications such as smart cockpit/autonomous driving, remote real-time operation of industrial robots, remote surgery, AR/VR/XR, and cloud games have accelerated their development.
5G drives the rise of edge computing
For smart car applications, the emergence of 5G has pushed artificial intelligence (AI) reasoning tasks from the cloud to the edge and end-side, which has brought many excellent features such as low latency, low power consumption, high efficiency, and high performance. "The further development of edge and end-side computing provides a place for Imagination's Neural Network Accelerator (NNA), which can meet requirements from smart cockpits to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to Various requirements for autonomous driving." Huang Yin introduced.
AI reasoning tasks for autonomous driving will be performed more at the edge and on the device side
Currently, Imagination has three generations of NNA products, Series2NX , Series3NX and Series4 . Among them, the latest generation of Series4 released at the end of 2020 is Imagination's ultimate AI accelerator for ADAS and autonomous driving. Each single core of Series4 can provide 12.5 TOPS computing power with less than one watt of power consumption, an 8-core cluster can provide 100 TOPS, and a solution formed by six 8-core clusters has a computing power of 600 TOPS. Moreover, the Series4 also complies with the ISO 26262 vehicle regulation standard, which can fully guarantee the functional safety of the vehicle.
The commercial use of 5G has also promoted the development of cloud games. In addition to game companies, operators, Internet companies, etc. have set foot in this field.
